Tocani Group Performs at 2022 Cavalcade of Lights
One of the performers at the Cavalcade of Lights on Nathan Phillips Square on Saturday (November 26) is the Tocani group whose musical genre, according to the Art Gallery of Ontario, "explores pre-Hispanic elements and contemporary Latin America, using percussion and wind elements from traditional instruments. Bringing ancestral mysticism to the stage, each musical piece tells a story theatrically and experimentally". (Background story at: https://ago.ca/agoinsider/tocani). The group consists of Luis Rojas, a multidisciplinary artist; Guillermo López, a drummer and Aztec dancer; Jesus Mora, a drummer and member of the Mexica (Aztec) dance group in Toronto; and Camilo Giraldo, an Afro-Columbian percussionist.
