Colorado River Pearce Ferry Rapid After High Flow Release From Glen Canyon Dam

Welcome to Wonderhussy Adventure #255

On November 5, 2018 the Department of the Interior cranked open the spillways on the Glen Canyon Dam, from the usual 7-12,000 cfs to 38,100 cfs! They let 'er rip for 60 hours, in an effort to recreate the natural floods that used to occur before the Colorado River was dammed...and which served to clean out the silt that accumulates on the riverbed.
I went out to Pearce Ferry, where the Colorado River enters Lake Mead 300 miles downstream from the Glen Canyon Dam, to see what the rapids there looked like before the release -- and then went back a few days later to see how the release had affected them! Let me tell you...it was intense! THE MIGHTY COLORADO RAGED AGAIN...if only for a few days.
