Putin and Xi Jinping’s meeting during Israel-Hamas conflict is ‘troubling’
Russian President Vladimir Putin and China’s President Xi Jinping’s meeting in Beijing during the Israel-Hamas conflict is “troubling”, says Sky News Senior Reporter Caroline Marcus.
Israel declared a state of war on October 7 following a surprise attack from Hamas in which the Palestinian militant group fired thousands of rockets as far north as Tel Aviv.
“This is happening on the sidelines as the world is sort of distracted by what’s happening – in the Middle East and watching really carefully that doesn’t explode into something bigger,” Ms Marcus told Sky News host Erin Molan.
“Russia and China, their leaders are meeting over in Beijing and they posed for a photo shaking hands.
“They’re using this opportunity to strengthen their relationship which is troubling.”
