The new home design center is the most overlooked and expensive part of buying a new home. I would say that this is the number one way new home buyers lose the most money - because they are not focused and do not have a written game plan of what they want. If you want to save money in the new home design center you need to start before you write a contract on the new home. Walk through the model home (or even better - an inventory home) and start asking the builder rep a lot of question about what's upgraded and what's standard. And don't forget to get a detailed upgrade sheet from the builder rep.
