Conservative leadership debate at Canada Strong and Free Networking Conference – May 5, 2022
Candidates vying to succeed Erin O'Toole as leader of the Conservative Party of Canada face off in the first unofficial debate of the campaign. The Canada Strong and Free Network, formerly the Manning Centre, is holding the debate in Ottawa as part of its annual conference. Scott Aitchison, Roman Baber, Jean Charest, Leslyn Lewis, and Pierre Poilievre are taking part. Patrick Brown declined to participate. Candice Malcolm from the digital media platform True North and Jamil Jivani from the Canada Strong and Free Network moderate the debate. The first of two official debates organized by the party will be held on May 11. The party will announce its new leader on September 10.
