If you're new here, we're Ashley & Christian, and we're moving to Alaska :)
After driving for hundreds of miles each day, we are finally in the home stretch! We are heading from Muncho to Lake to Teslin to Haines Junction to Tok driving along the Alaska Highway!
After leaving Muncho Lake, we make our first stop at the Yukon border! The Yukon has always seemed 'larger than life' to us, so being in the territory seemed very surreal. It's not every day you get to say "I'm in The Yukon!" We stopped at Watson Lake for fuel (for the car and for ourselves), as well as a trip to the sign post forest - one of The Alcan's most famous things to do!
We got to Nisutlin after dark (not hard to do in January when the sun sets at 3:30pm haha), had a quick dinner, and fell asleep pretty fast.
We arrived in Whitehorse pretty fast the next day, it only took about an hour and a half to make it there from Teslin since our road conditions were good. Whitehorse was our biggest stop in the Yukon, since it's the territories' capitol! We made good use of our time there by getting breakfast, checking out main street, going to a coffee roaster, and going to Walmart!
Our overnight in Haines Junction was spent at The Alcan Motor Inn and Mile 1016 Pub - both highly recommended by us! Destruction Bay was part of our journey the next day; this is one the Alcan's most infamous stretches of road, and thankfully, it wasn't bad at all for us! We'd read it was much more mild during the winter, and that was very true.
It felt like we arrived at the border SUPER fast, so we were definitely a little shocked when we realized we were in ALASKA! Spent some time at the sign, being grateful we made it this far, then heading across the border into the US :)
Our last night on the Alcan was spent at Caribou Cabins, somewhere we also highly recommend.
Making it home to Anchorage the next day was amazing, and we are settling in well! Thank you so much for following our journey here aaaaaand
