One of the most overlooked areas of Switzerland is also its most beautiful! I'd heard of Appenzell, but didn't have it at the top of my list. After visiting, I can confidently suggest that you don't miss this are when you travel to Switzerland!
We headed up the Hoher Kasten Cable car/ Lift on our first day. Easily one of the most beautiful views I've seen from the top of a cable car.
After trying to wait out the clouds, we headed to our next stop Santis - another cable car in the area, famous for it's weather tower that can be seen from almost anywhere in the region.
After that, we headed to our 3rd cable car of the day - Staubern! This is the one I was most excited for because of the hike that's at the top. We hiked out to the famous Saxer Lucke, which did not disappoint.
When deciding to travel to Switzerland, you really can't pick a wrong destination. After having the privilege of traveling all over the country, this remains one of my top picks for most beautiful place. The green mountainsides, endless trails, and local feel are truly unparalleled.
