Lubov Timofeyeva - Shostakovich Dances of the Dolls

This was part of our Mystery Pianist quiz. Timofeyeva (b.1951) studied with Anna Artobolevskaya and Yakov Zak. At 15 she won the Concertino Praga; two years later she placed third in Montreal; and in 1969 she won the Long-Thibaud in a very competitive year (Dmitri Alexeev, Natalia Gavrilova, Jean-Philippe Collard and Brigitte Engerer). She has recorded a lot, including all the Haydn sonatas, two sets of Chopin etudes, and CDs of lesser-known female composers on the label Voice of Lyrics. This Shostakovich is an old recording from the early '70s. The photo shows young Lubov in costume.
