Elastica - Gloria (bass cover)

I heard this 'Christmas' tune on the radio a couple of days ago and was reminded of that thundering P-bass riff, so I thought I'd try to play it and replicate the fat tone. So out came the Waking Up CD single (remember those?) from which this is a B-side. It was originally recorded as part of a John Peel session in 1994.

While it's not a difficult tune to learn, the descending scale is tricky to play and is a bit of a finger-twister. To get the big rounded tone, I used a P-bass (obviously) with new strings and everything turned up, then ran it through the Ampeg PF-50T tube amp with a little pre-amp gain and a lot of master volume. #basslineteardown
