How to wind and set time on a Rolex Datejust watch - 1960's to present day

This video teaches you how to wind and operate a vintage Rolex Oyster Perpetual Datejust powered by a caliber 1560 or 1570 (reference number 16xx) and cal 3035, 3135, and 3235 (ref number 16XXX).

The Rolex Datejust is a true icon, so it's important to know how to properly use it. In this video I'll explain how to unscrew the crown, how to wind, how to set time, and how to use the date function (or quickset date function). This applies for all models from 1960's to now. In the 1960's and 1970's, Rolex installed the cal 1560 and 1570 for all models. From 1979 and onwards, the cal 3035 became the standard for about a decade, and in 1988 the cal 3135 was introduced. This was Rolex' workhorse for Datejusts for 30 years, until 2015, when Rolex introduced the completely redesigned cal 3235 (which has a longer power reserve due to an upgraded design with new materials).

Just a reminder: for all vintage watches you should always assume they're not waterproof unless proven otherwise (with a pressure test). Even if they have a screw-down crown, there might still be leaks. Don't swim with them unless you're sure they're waterproof.
