KAMELOT - Tommy Karevik interview @Linea Rock 2023 by Barbara Caserta

On March 1st 2023 we had as our guest symphonic power metallers #KAMELOT 's frontman himself, Mr #TOMMYKAREVIK interviewed live by yours truly BARBARA CASERTA @ LINEA ROCK (on Radio Lombardia, Milano, Italy). Their 13th and brand new album “#TheAwakening” (Napalm Records) is the main topic here (delayed release, the long genesis, how much the record evolved during its making and how much crisis breeds progress, the themes which are never a detail for them connected to the gothic theatrical approach, how they keep the sound modern and innovative keeping the legacy on and catching the live element, the magic of demos, long time collaborator Sasha Paeth and co-producing with him, the special guests Melissa Bonny, Tina Guo and Florian Janoske and among the different formats which one will he keep in his personal collection?) but I also took the chance to ask the added value he thinks (and his partners as well) he's been bringing in the Kamelot picture during his 10 years with the band and what got him the gig, their wide range influences (from Stevie Wonder to Iron Maiden!), his scandinavian attitude and the band's american nature, his past serving as a firefighter (and his relationship with pyros on stage), the new “Awaken The World Tour” about to start (production and working on the setlist) and last but not least: if Tommy could organize a special imaginary dinner with (just one) James LaBrie, Russel Allen, Ronnie James Dio or Bruce Dickinson, who would he invite over and what would he ask him as a tip or secret to keep?
