An intro to the 3,000 year old Kazakh Nomadic Culture #shortsfeed

No, you didn't read that wrong!

One of the things we love about central Asia is the nomadic culture- both it's history and present adaptation's. Kazakhstan is no exception to this!

The Kazakhs and their ancestors have preserved nomadic traditions on the open steppe and surrounding mountains since it's inception and yes, that's roughly 3,000 years!

To better understand the people that call this part of the world home, we paid a visit to the Hun Ethno Village located 35 miles outside of Almaty. This particular complex includes a display of traditions, culture, customs, crafts and national identity of the nomadic lifestyle and the Kazakh people.

It was a feast for the senses, both literally and figuratively. We sampled traditional cuisine, we tried fermented horse milk, we heard music, listened to stories, played traditional games and watched thrilling acrobatic on horseback.

But the most endearing part of our visit? It was the family that runs the village. We laughed together and made funny videos. They encouraged photos and asked to see them. It was a beautiful connection and something we will cherish in our travel memories.

Special thanks to Travel Kazakhstan and the Society of American Travel Writers for this epic trip.
