Shackleton’s Nimrod Hut at Cape Royds remains a time capsule of early Antarctic exploration, where weathered wooden crates, preserved provisions, and handwritten notes tell the story of an expedition that came heartbreakingly close to the South Pole.

We visited Cape Royds as part of a 28 Day expedition that departed from Port Bluff, New Zealand to the Sub-Antarctic Islands of New Zealand and Australia, and visited the Ross Sea of Antarctica.
