Before you begin putting your mood board together, you’ll need to find some images you want to include. You can search for things you want to include photos of on Google Images, or go on Pinterest and save some photos that fit the vibe you’re going for. You can even add in quotes, screenshots, or whatever else you want. If you want it to look really cohesive, try to stick with a colour theme so your photos look really nice together. I’d suggest saving all of your images in one specific folder so they’re easier to find later.
Now comes the fun part – assembling our mood board collage. Go to Canva.com to get started. Then click Create a Design in the top right corner. You can click Custom Size to set your blank canvas to whatever dimensions you like. If you’re planning to use it as a wallpaper on your computer or your phone, you can type in wallpaper in the search bar and select either desktop wallpaper or phone wallpaper.
Once you have your blank canvas ready to go, you can add a file name for your design at the top. On the left, click Uploads. Then click Upload Media. Upload all of the images you want to include. Once your uploads are complete, simply click an uploaded image on the left to add it to your canvas. You can then resize it by dragging the corners to make it larger or smaller. Use the markers in the middle of each side to crop your image if you like. Click and drag your image to place it where you’d like on your canvas. Repeat to add as many images to your mood board as you like. To adjust the way your images are layered, right click on an image to get options to move it forward or backward. As you add in more images, you might find yourself moving things around and making lots of adjustments. Feel free to keep making changes until you’re happy with your design.
When you’re all finished, click Download in the top right corner to save it. In the pop-up menu, click Download. The image file will be saved to your downloads folder. Move it into another folder if you like. From there you can use it as a wallpaper on your devices, print it out, or use it for whatever you like.
That’s all it takes to make a mood or vision board with Canva.
