With a body length of up to 1,85m and a weight of up to 96kg, the jaguar belongs to the largest cat species in the Americas and is the third largest in the world. With his powerful bite he is able to pierce carapaces of turtles and tortoises. In biting directly through the skull of mammalian prey between the ears the jaguar delivers a fatal blow to the brain.
