WWII Target for Tonight - Bombing Raid on #germany #history

“Target for Tonight” is a World War II film made by the British government with the British Royal Air Force during actual wartime operations. Directed by Harry Watt, "Target for Tonight," follows the crew of a Vickers Wellington bomber plane, who plan a strategic bombing mission over Nazi Germany that night against an oil storage facility near the Rhine river. The Vickers Wellington was the most produced British bomber used during WW2. It was a twin-engine, long-range medium bomber designed with a geodesic structure which held five crew members, and was capable of sustaining heavy damages. "Target for Tonight" was considered a documentary film made with re-creations, which the film states at the start. A number of images were filmed from outside the WWll Vickers Wellington bomber plane, which made it feel as though the audience were looking into the cockpit while the crew was in flight. In 1942, the film won an honorary Academy Award for Best Documentary by the National Board of Review. #ww2
