Hi, I am Daniel with etrailer and today we're gonna take a look at, and I'm gonna try to install the etrailer 12 Volt Powered Patio Awning on our June 21 Grand Design Transcend. Awnings are great to have on those hot summer days. You can extend this when you get to the campsite and be under a nice cool shade. You won't need a sunhat like this I needed for the whole install. I can just walk under here and now I'm completely in shade. This awning is going to be 16 feet wide and it's gonna be good for if maybe you've already had an awning that the motor blew out on or you're installing an awning from scratch.

This awning is gonna be eight feet wide and it's made out of a nice durable vinyl. And as you can see, it does have a gradient so it's gonna fade from black to a white on the end. On the supporting arms there is a knob that you can tighten up and that'll strengthen this. So if you are in some heavy winds like we actually are right now, we'll tighten this up and that'll make it a lot more sturdy. But when you do retract it, you do have to loosen this up on both sides.

This is what it'll look like retracted against your trailer. Rolls up so you can only see the black. So it does match a lot of the accents on this trailer. This kit does come with a hand crank, so you can put this in that loop on that right side and crank this up. So this will retract and I would recommend only to do this when you don't have that 12 volt power power on your awning.

Something I will mention is you wanna measure from the top of your C channel if you already have that on your trailer or where you would mount that to the top of your door. So ours is right about six inches and I would say that is most likely the minimum you can get. So as you can see, our door is very close to our roll. If you have any further questions about replacing an existing awning or you're just getting a new one, please feel free to reach out. We'd be happy to point in the right direction.

We do offer a lot of replacement parts, so maybe just a small part is all you need to get yours working. Now as far as getting this one installed, it is fairly in depth. You're gonna need a level and maybe a couple of friends to help you get this in place. So if that's not something you have the time or tools to do, you can check out our installer locator. We can find an installer local to you to get this installed. But if you wanna do it yourself, follow along. And in this video, we'll show you how. First off, on our neighbor's camper, we're gonna have to take off their old awning. So I extended their awning just a little bit, a couple inches. And I'm gonna use some zip ties to secure this. So when we take this off, this doesn't fall down, you can use a piece of rope or I just put two zip ties together. I'm gonna put it above this support so this doesn't fall off and get that secured. And to take this off, I'm going to take the fastener that's going into our roll out. (tool buzzing) It is gonna be another fastener going into the extrusion rail and into the fabric itself. So I'll take this out so we can slide this out. I got that zip tie and I'm gonna take our hardware of our old awning, (tool buzzing) we can take our fabric tube and I gotta take out the Phillips. There's one fastener in there to take out our center section and there's gonna be a line marking halfway. Push that back in to that line and your threaded insert should line up and we'll get that screw back in place. We'll take our other counter sink screws. I did loosen them all up so I can move this around so they can all fall into where they need to be into that counter sink. I'll just loosely tighten 'em all back around. We can get our center section and get this slid in. There is only one way this can go in, just find it, slide it all the way down and we'll do the same thing. Take those screws, put 'em all in loosely and then we'll tighten 'em all down together. We will take our other end piece, we'll do the same thing, take this intersection, take it out halfway and get all of our screws tightened down. Now we'll slide this end piece into that center section. Now we can get our bracket screwed in to the side of our camper. And I did measure everything out 'cause we had existing rai
