Martha & The Vandellas & Prince - 1999 in the Street

Although Prince was quite young at the time, he recorded one of his finest singles in collaboration with Motown legends Martha and The Vandellas during the summer of 1964. The artist, who in those days billed himself as Little Rogers Nelson, was introduced to Martha Reeves by Motown head Berry Gordy. The two immediately hit it off, and despite a rivalry between The Vandellas and The Revolution (known back then as The Skirmish), produced "1999 in the Street," one of the best loved and most popular Motown songs of all time.
