COVID-19 deaths based on when they occur vs. when they are reported [here we go again]
Although I've done several videos on this very topic, the Florida Department of Health's recent change in reporting to the CDC, which included a complete timeseries update for COVID-19 cases and deaths, essentially transitioned Florida from a "deaths by data reported" structure to a "deaths by date occurred" one.
Although they still provide data to assess deaths based on when they are reported, we now get the deaths by date of death info that has been mostly elusive since early June. But some are screaming foul - once again thinking that the state has transitioned for nefarious purposes. So, let's quickly re-visit this topic to clear at least a little of the air.
