Vegan Steak Recipe | MOUTHWATERING VEGAN TV

This is a truly epic vegan steak – juicy, succulent, totally delicious. I decided to flambé it – this is of course optional. I suggest serving with my Peppered Cognac Sauce - recipe below.

1 cup soya chunks/TVP (presoak in hot water for 30 mins, rinse & wring out)
4 slices brown bread
½ tsp black pepper
1 tsp salt
1 Tbsp liquid smoke
1 heaped tsp miso – dark or light
4 Tbsp vital wheat gluten
2 tsp beetroot powder
2 tsp mushroom powder
1 Tbsp refined coconut oil
1 Tbsp soya sauce
¼ tsp instant yeast
4 heaped Tbsp plain white flour
1 medium Portobello mushroom, roughly chopped
1 medium oyster mushroom, chopped into 1½” slivers
½ cup red wine
1 Tbsp psyllium husks
Add another 2 Tbsp flour, then leave to rise for 30 mins or so
Extra coconut oil for frying

Peppered Cognac Sauce :
1 heaped tsp miso
¾ cup cashew nuts
1 cup water
½ clove garlic
1 dessert spoon nutritional yeast
1 Tbsp cognac – & extra for flambé
1 tsp crushed pepper (add more if you want it hot)
Process in your blender until rich & creamy. Pour contents into a small saucepan & gently heat.
