Track 7 on the Silent Night EP

This was my first attempt at writing a song for Christmas, circa 2006, when Centricity Music, Downhere’s record label, set out to create a compilation album featuring their own artists, called Bethlehem Skyline. I’ll admit, it was intimidating for me to sit and write something about Christmas, which might be one of the most written-about things in history (along with pickup trucks, of course). So I simply went to the songwriter’s drawing board and wrote what I knew. I knew that my favorite thing about the Gospel is that it’s the last thing you’d expect. The Silent Night EP was my second time recording this song, as I felt it was due for an update.
