Rete, lacci, e strali adopra (Rosa Bove)

I discovered Dorilla in Tempe and it is now one of my favorite things. An obscure Baroque opera by Antonio Vivaldi, it also happens to be one of the most delightful things I've ever seen. Featuring not one--not two--but THREE mezzo bois, this opera is sapphic AF and utterly adorable.
In particular, we have Rosa Bove's unbearably cute Filindo. Poor little Filindo just wants the love of the nymph Eudamia, who may or may not return his affections. As well as to just be taken seriously by "the guys." In this adorable aria, he ponders the ways in which lovers pursue the objects of their affections while also trying to show off his hunting prowess. The result? just under six minutes of dazzling Baroque coloratura and some delightful stage business.
I love this production so much so there will definitely be more of it on the way. The aesthetic of the sets and costumes are so lovely to me.
