Jacqueline Avant, a philanthropist and the wife of music legend Clarence Avant and mother-in-law to Netflix co-CEO Ted Sarandos was fatally shot on Wednesday, December 1, 2021 in her house.

According to the Beverly Hill police, they received a phone call at approximately 2:30am about a shooting that had taken place on the 1100 block of Maytor Place. Upon Arrival, The suspects were no longer at the scene, but an unnamed victim had suffered a gunshot wound.The victim was then transported to the local hospital and was later confirmed dead.

It was later confirmed by a Netflix spokesperson that the victim of the robbery was Jacqueline Avant.The police are still investigating whether it’s a ‘robbery attack’ or ‘home invasion’ or a ‘random attack’.

By mid morning, Wednesday tribute had begun pouring in from friends, family and loved ones.

“Jacqueline was an amazing woman, wife, mother, philanthropist and 55-year resident of Beverly Hills who has made an immeasurable, positive contribution and impact on the arts community,” the statement said. “She will be missed by her family, friends and all of the people she has helped through her amazing life.”

Jacqueline and Clarence met at a fashion show during the mid 60’s. They got married and have two children, Alexander and Nicole. Her husband is a legendary figure in the music industry. He is popularly known as the “BlackGodfather”

She was the president of the Neighbors of Watts, which supports the South Central Community Child Care Center, and also served on the board of the International Student Center at the University of California, Los Angeles. She was also an entertainment chairman of the NOW benefit auction.
