The Birth of Rua | A Home Waterbirth Story

This was my second time documenting for this family and to say I was sooo excited was an understatement. I just adore them all and to see their son again for the first time since his birth was wild...and here we were about to meet his little sister! Katie's birth started quite mellow as she lay in bed for a while. Heart tones were taken and she was breathing calmly through her waves. Eventually, she made her to the bathroom where I could hear a shift in her tones. They were lower and a tad louder. Her birth pool was ready and she decided it was time to get in. This is when she went into transition. Her husband, friend, and son surrounded her with love and support and she allowed baby Rua to descend and make her way earth-side. It was such a beautiful night, and to see her son so excited to meet his sister was a total joy. This is one of many reasons I love birth. These moments are irreplaceable and so very important and to be a part of it all is a complete honor!
