9 Electric Cars from Britain Ready to Shine on the Modern EV Market

Thoughts stating that electric cars are here to stay and they have high chances of becoming the transportation of the future were commonly heard from the companies that were focused on early development of electric vehicles (EVs) at the beginning of this century. We all remember how little hope for survival auto critics were giving to the first electric model by Nissan and how Tesla was regarded as a luxury toy for those, who know nothing about cars and have too much money to throw away.

But today, after the moderate success of Tesla Motors and Nissan, we can all see how good the visions of these carmakers were and they were onto something, when creating their first zero emission vehicles. So we have to admit their contributions to history and can all appreciate the efforts of American and Japanese car companies for giving a much needed push to the whole industry.

Today their inventions are being applied to almost any form of transportation: we have battery-powered motorcycles, SUVs, sedans, scooters, buses and even vans. Almost all segments have been influenced by this innovative approach. Moreover, today manufacturers from all over the world are spending millions on research and development of all-electric powertrains, so we can safely assume that the future of the technology doesn't rely of Japanese and American auto manufacturers anymore.

With this in mind, we decided to create a series of episodes dedicated to the situation with electric vehicle developments in different parts of the globe and the aim is to find out which nation produces the best battery-powered transport as of now. We have already covered the works by manufacturers from the USA, Germany, and Japan and today we are moving on to the United Kingdom. This nation has a long history of automaking, so it's no wonder that they decided not to stay away from this new EV technology. The very first electric car in modern history to be developed under the Union Jack was the Mini E and it's announcement happened almost ten years ago. Despite gaining some traction, that project never took off, and we had to wait nearly a decade to welcome a new EV from the Isles.

Everything is about to change, though, since 2020 marks the year when British automakers are starting to take electrification seriously and are ready to present their vision of the future. Condiering their heritage, we are already seeing many sports cars and luxury autos that will work on battery power only. Here we want to acquaint you with the freshest lineup of electric cars from the United Kingdom, share information about specifications, design peculiarities and prices and these EVs in order to help you make up your mind before buying.
