Letters penned by PM reveal ADF support was offered to Daniel Andrews

Letters penned by the prime minister to Daniel Andrews will prove to be a “significant development,” supporting the federal argument ADF support was offered to the Victorian Premier, according to Sky News Political Editor Andrew Clennell.

Letters obtained exclusively by Sky News have revealed Prime Minister Scott Morrison pressured the Victorian Premier to accept ADF troops during the state's tragic second wave of COVID-19.

Mr Clennell said the documents which were sourced under Freedom of Information laws will “put a bit more pressure on Daniel Andrews”.

“It’s more allegations against Daniel Andrews that he didn’t do everything he could when it came to the second wave outbreak," he said.

“The smoking gun would be if those letters were around quarantine when that refusal was made."

Treasurer Josh Frydenberg weighed in on the debate saying “these letters are confirmation of what we have already known which is that the federal government repeatedly offered ADF support to the Andrews government; an offer which should have been accepted but was rejected”.
