How Best to Make Separation Work: Pausing the Relationship
Separation in a relationship is never easy. In this video, we are going to look at how best to make separation work. It doesn't matter if it is your decision or your partners; dealing with separation requires many adjustments and mind shifts.
Often our immediate response, when we feel our partner disengaging or slipping away from us, is to cling tightly and spend more time together trying to "fix it".
However, a temporary separation can help maintain a relationship long term.
There are many different reasons couples choose to separate:,
• You are stuck in destructive and toxic patterns of behaviour
• You have both discussed "ending the relationship"
• One or both of you are aware that you need to do some work
• You have children
• There is physical, emotional and verbal abuse
• There are trust issues
• There are financial issues
• You are conflicted if you wish to stay in the relationship or not.
However, your separation begins, continues or ends; it often takes time to recover from the process. It is essential to reach out to your supports and increase your self-care.
So I hope you have found this video interesting and some food for thought on how best to make separation work and pausing the relationship.
