“Come sta?”- “Sto bene, grazie”
“Come si chiama?”- “Mi chiamo...”/”Sono...”
“Di dov’è?”- “Sono inglese di Manchester”
“Dove abita?”- “Abito a Londra”
To greet someone new in a formal situation we say: “Buongiorno/Buonasera” and “Piacere!” (= “Nice to meet you!”).
Here are some questions that we can ask/be asked with the possible answers:
“Come sta?”- “Sto bene, grazie” (= “How are you?”- “I am fine, thanks”)
“Come si chiama?”- “Mi chiamo...”/”Sono...” (= “What’s your name?”- “My name is…”/”I am…”)
“Di dov’è?”- “Sono inglese di Manchester” (= “Where are you from?”- “I am English, from Manchester”)
“Dove abita?”- “Abito a Londra” (= “Where do you live?”- “I live in London”)
(= “What’s your telephone number?”- “My number is…”)
“Quanti anni ha?”- “Ho 42 anni” (=”How old are you?”- “I’m 42”)
To ask the questions back, you say: “E Lei?” (= “And you?”)
Remember that the answers are the same both in a formal and informal situation.
