“Ci vuole” è seguito da un sostantivo singolare e significa “è necessario/a”.
“Ci vogliono” è seguito da un sostantivo plurale e significa “sono necessari/e”.
Per esempio: “Per vincere alla lotteria ci vuole fortuna”, “Per fare il tiramisù ci vogliono quattro uova”.
“Ci vuole” e “ci vogliono” sono spesso usati per indicare il tempo necessario per fare qualcosa.
Per esempio: “Per andare a Milano in treno ci vuole un’ora”, “Per andare a Roma in treno ci vogliono tre ore”.

“Ci vuole” is followed by a singular noun and it means “it is necessary”/”you need”.
“Ci vogliono” is followed by a plural noun and it means “they are necessary”/”you need”.
For example, “Per vincere alla lotteria ci vuole fortuna” = “You need luck to win the lottery”, “Per fare il tiramisù ci vogliono quattro uova” = “You need four eggs to make tiramisu”.
“Ci vuole” and “ci vogliono” are often used to refer to the time needed to do something. In this case they translate to “it takes”.
For example: “Per andare a Milano in treno ci vuole un’ora” = “It takes one hour to get to Milan by train”, “Per andare a Roma in treno ci vogliono tre ore” = “It takes three hours to get to Rome by train”.
