After arriving by ferry from Athens, we made it to the Greek island of Crete.

The drive to Balos Beach is a bumpy one. We had to drive slowly and carefully, but the scenic drive is stunning. There are goats along the way and gorgeous views. Once we arrived at the parking area, we began our hike to Balos Beach. The view of Balos from the top is picture perfect. After stopping for a few photos, we made the hike down to the beach. There is a place to rent sun loungers, but we opted to put our bags in the sand because we knew we wouldn't be sun bathing. The water was cold, but we quickly acclimated. After our swim, it was time to make the hike back up. We went in November, so there weren't many people at the beach. This meant we had no trouble with parking or finding a spot along the sand to place our things. After arriving back in Chania's city center, we had dinner at Se anammena karvouna. The gyros here were delicious!
