BREAKING! Tesla’s 2nd Chinese Gigafactory Is In Works, Local Gov Leaks

Hours ago Torque News learned that Tesla (TSLA) is reportedly receiving competing bids for second Gigafactory in China.

Car News China reports on a new document released by the Liaoning Province that references a Tesla vehicle factory project:

"On February 11, Liaoning Province’s official Wechat account, “Liaoning Release,” published an article titled “Five Grasps of Dadong District of Shenyang City, Striving to be the Pioneer in Revitalization Development.” The report stated that Shenyang City is actively preparing to implement Tesla’s vehicle project."

From the statement, we can see the Tesla's 2nd Chinese Gigafactory deal with Liaoning province is not done. Still, it unintentionally reveals how actively Tesla is working on a second Gigafactory in China. And how it lets local governments compete to attract Tesla’s location team favor.

The local Chiense report also mentions several other regions competing for the second Tesla gigafactory in China, including “Qingdao, Wuhan, Hangzhou, Hefei, Zhengzhou, Shenzhen, and Jinan.” As it looks for a new location for a second factory, Tesla is not necessarily looking for financial incentives like tax breaks, but rather less restrictions in terms of ownership of production capacity.

If the United State can have two big Tesla factories, why can't China have two? Thus, don't be surprised if Tesla announces a second gigafactory somewhere in China by the end of the year.

In fact, Tesla's 2nd, upcoming gigafactory could well be dedicated to producing the affordable Tesla model that Elon has been promising.
