King Tuts Mask and Egyptian Museum | Cairo, Egypt

Our last full day in Egypt!

Arriving back into Cairo on the sleeper train, we hit up the Egyptian Museum - the place where a lot of treasures taken from tombs and ancient ruins from throughout Egypt are on display.

We saw a replica of the Rosetta Stone - the ancient tablet which helped scholars work out the Egyptians undecipherable hieroglyphics. The original is at the British Museum in London, and the Egyptians desperately want it back but that’s a touchy story…

We saw a whole collection of amazing items. Furniture and jewellery belonging to ancient kings and queens, un-wrapped mummies, even mummified animals. But the most impressive of all was the Tutankhamun Exhibition – a collection of King Tuts treasures – including that world-famous golden mask and his throne.

Afterwards while a lot of people were relaxing at the hotel, a small group of us caught some Ubers through the insane traffic of Cairo to check out the Khan El Khalili markets, and then I caught my own Uber to go on a little solo adventure to pick up the luggage we left at a different hotel back on day 14.
