How nomads in Iran kill and eat a chicken (trigger warning) | SOLO FEMALE TRAVEL TO IRAN

During my homestay with the Qashqai nomads, we visited the camps of different families in the Zagros mountains and was fortunate enough to be invited for dinner at one Qashqai family.
That day, they decided to kill one of their chickens to have for dinner. This is not an every day occurrence as being able to eat meat every day is a luxury, and for the nomads their flock is their livelihood. So from start to finish, I was able to observe how the nomads kill and prepare a chicken to have for dinner.
It was the first time I had seen a chicken be killed in front of it, and while it was confronting to see, there was absolutely no judgment, especially because I knew the chicken had a good life roaming around the mountains with no cages or factory farming. The chicken was killed in the most humane way, with a knife slit to the neck, which happens within seconds. After the chicken is dead, the body continues to twitch and move due to its nervous system.
The chicken then has all the feathers plucked, and is put in boiling water to help this process. Once this is done, the chicken is sorted through to separate the waste parts and the organs. The organ meat is all edible, and the mother made a skewer for us to have a snack while we waited for dinner, which was fresh and delicious.
As day turned to night, the chicken was prepared by making a stew. The whole nomad family gathered and shared a meal together, talking, laughing and smoking shisha throughout the night. I feel incredibly lucky to have been able to experience the whole process.
