Which is the the better movie?

In this episode we will be comparing what has often been argued as two of the greatest works of director John Carpenter, The original Halloween, and The Thing '82. Both films are more relevant than ever today, with Halloween Kills coming out later this year, and The Thing reboot from Blumhouse, which John Carpenter is already attached to as well. And with such genre defining characters like Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis) and RJ "Mac" Macready (Kurt Russell), it was difficult for me to figure out where these two classics would be ranked in each specific category, as this is kind of the ultimate horror showdown. But which of the two is more likely to be considered the best horror movie ever?

We will be comparing the movies in 5 rounds, followed by the results from the poll in which you voted on last week (found in the community section of this channel).
