Acadia - Cadillac Mountain via the Ladder Trail

Park Junkie teams up with Hippie Mike for quick sunrise hike up Cadillac Mountain via Dorr Mountain's Ladder Trail in Acadia National Park.
The Ladder Trail is a fun way to access a great view of America's first sun rays of the day. A quick stop on the summit of Dorr Mountain will allow a sunrise celebration absent the crowds that gather atop Cadillac.
Of course, you'll wanna head on up there as well, & if you watch the sunrise from Dorr, the crowds will be gone by the time you get to Cadillac!

Route:
There are numerous options for routes up & down this mountain, but we chose to begin at the Tarn, a small lake at the eastern base of Dorr Mtn.
This route heads up the Ladder Trail on the east face of Dorr Mtn, to the summit, then drops down the west face of Dorr to meet the Gorge Path (Trail), which quicky climbs the east face of Cadillac Mtn.
At the summit of Cadillac, head across the parking lot & move south in search of the South Ridge Trail. This trail decends slowly & eventually intersects with the Canon Creek Trail, which leads east, back toward the Tarn.
Near the base of the mountain, take the Tarn Trail back toward the north to meet up with the Ladder Trail & your car.
