Northern Policing - PROS and CONS
In this video, I dive into just a few of the PROS and CONS of policing in the North. Take what I tell you with a grain of salt as my opinion is just that... salty! There is SO much more to both, the PROS and CONS, but didn't want to keep anyone here all day... a few added things to consider are:
-WEATHER!!!! - - - SOOOO COLD!!!! haha. Just dress for the weather!
-Force Housing - RCMP CAN provide you with a place to call home. It's still the members responsibility to maintain, pay rent, upkeep, and so on... however, it alleviates the stress of buying/selling a house. With this, getting into the housing market for investments, is tougher.
-When staffing shortages are on the rise... so is WORK! It's easy to burn out in a Northern Post. Just have to keep tabs on yourself. Once again, key is BALANCE.
-Some northern spots CAN be very slow... so, experience can take longer to gain in these posts.
I talk about pay structure, isolation, family matters, opportunity, and so much more!
Please ask any questions you might have in the comment section, and I'll do my best in answering them:)
In a nutshell, policing in the NORTH is a GREAT experience to have "Under your belt". It's not for everyone, but that's why we can decide to transfer AFTER our commitment is fulfilled... Then again, some members LOVE it... and STAY for their ENTIRE careers!!! That's one of MANY great things about the RCMP!
