01:16 Home-made Yakiniku Marinade
02:54 Home-made Mayonnaise
03:47 Preparing Rice Buns
04:59 Cooking the Yakiniku Meat
06:02 Let’s Eat!
Ingredients (for 2-3 burgers)
Rice bun:
- 3 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp mirin
- 450g rice
- 540ml water
(This actually made enough rice for 6 burgers but you can always freeze these rice buns)
- About 4-6tbsp of cornstarch (or potato starch)
Yakiniku:
- 200g thinly sliced beef
- ½ onion
- 3 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp mirin
- 2 tbsp honey
- 1 tsp vinegar
- 2 tsp sesame oil
- grated ginger and garlic (about one clove of garlic and the same amount of ginger)
- sprinkle of shichimi chili powder
- 1 tbsp sesame seeds
Homemade Mayonnaise:
- 1 egg yolk
- 3g sugar
- 3g salt
- 1 tsp rice vinegar
- 100ml olive oil
Toppings:
- fresh lettuce
- sliced tomato
- fried egg!
How to Make:
- First start off by cooking your rice how you usually would (You can use my guide here: https://youtube.com/shorts/RNWwfV7E5Xc?feature=share)
But since add 3 tbsp of soy sauce and 1 tbsp of mirin - this is 60ml of liquid so reduce the amount of water by 60ml (540ml in this case)
- While the rice is cooking prepare the marinade for the meat, mix tbsp of soy sauce, 1 tbsp mirin, 2 tbsp honey (this will mix easier if you microwave it for a few seconds), 1 tsp vinegar, 2 tsp sesame oil, grated ginger and garlic, a few sprinkles of shichimi chili powder and 1 tbsp of sesame seeds
- Add 200g of thinly sliced beef and ½ of a sliced onion - let marinate for at least 30 minutes or over night
- For home-made mayonnaise mix 1 egg yolk, 3g sugar, 3g salt and 1 tsp rice vinegar into a bowl and mix - gradually add 100ml of olive oil one tablespoon at a time and mix - your mayonnaise should become nice and thick
- Once your rice has cooked, add 3 tbsp of cornstarch and mix well so that it coats most of your rice - you may want to add a few more tbsps dependant on you much rice you cooked
- Line a small bowl with plastic wrap and measure 80g of rice, wrap up and form into a circle shape - do this until you run out of rice
- Heat some olive oil over a medium-high heat, fry your rice buns until they start to turn a nice golden brown on each side and set aside
- Cook your marinated meat over medium-high for 3-5 minutes until cooked through and set aside
- Assemble your Yakiniku Rice Burger with your bun, home-made mayo, yakiniku beef and optionally a fried egg, lettuce and sliced tomato!
