Cannesversations Ep.3.03 | Amit Grover on AI Agents, Commerce Media, & Live Sports Ads | CES 2026

"I think there's a lot more nuance to it."

In this Cannesversations episode from CES 2026, we sit down with Amit Grover, the Head of Programmatic at Redfin, for a conversation about the impact of AI, the evolution of commerce media networks, and non-disruptive advertising in live sports.

Amit suggests that brands should approach ads running adjacent to AI-generated content with the "same scrutiny as they do from professionally generated content," noting that if the AI content is factual, like a recipe or instruction manual, it's not a major issue. However, if the content involves news that "a human should be reporting on," it could become problematic. He highlights the need for a fully closed-loop system to standardize measurement and maximize advertiser ROI in retail media networks. For Redfin, a commerce media network centered around their first-party data, they leverage their unique position to help brands reach "movers" who they know about before anyone else.

Discussing live sports, Amit advocates for non-disruptive ad formats like augmented reality or personalized on-field advertisements, which can be "native as it gets" within the live experience. His main prediction for 2026 is that the way people consume content online is evolving away from traditional websites, and the industry will have to adapt to the new, currently unknown, "monetization model" that emerges from the leading AI internet consumption product. The key takeaway is the importance of becoming a true partner to brands' marketing strategies to help them evolve.
