Ferrari Dash lamp dimmer

Ferrari Dash lamp dimmers use the "Morse Code" signaling device that essentially IS a voltage changing device- as is its predicessor, the more common spring-looking wound NiCr silver wire used as a voltage changing variable resistor. This device- ( found on Amazon.com) is a PWM, or pulse width modulator that "Chops up" a 12 volt anolog voltage pressure into spurts of 12 volt power that is read by the incondescent filiments as "lower voltage" and thus dims the filiments. Why use this instead of old school potentiometers? It does not get as hot as a NiCr wire, and it is smaller- thus more easy to install in limited space. This one will accomodate 60 watts! Far more thatn the 1.2 amps in the dash illumination- but overkill still works!
