Tips For Breaking The Pain-Fear-Avoidance Cycle

If you're stuck in the Pain-Fear-Avoidance Cycle... one where you're maybe feeling okay, but then do something to send yourself into a tailspin of increased lower back, butt (piriformis), or sciatica (sciatic nerve) pain - over and over again - then this video is for you.

In this video, I share with you a live coaching call I had with a member of my private coaching program- the Glute Relief Accelerator Program.

David has been struggling with back, butt, and sciatica type pains in both legs for the past 6 months or so. He's gotten multiple X-Rays/MRI's and met with many specialists... but no one could agree upon what's causing his pain.

He's about 6 weeks into my program- pain is very low and he's working his way back into activities he loves.

One thing he's learned is that avoiding the activities he loves only further reinforces that they are dangerous... which causes the negative feedback loop (pain) to persist. He must gradually expose himself to activity over time...

But how does he know if he's damaging his body... or if he's okay to feel pain?

Easy... evidence.

David has no evidence to suggest his pain is of structural origin. So, in his case, hurt does NOT equal harm. Instead, the pain he is experiencing is being created by his mind. When he feels pain, he knows it's not damaging his body... which allows him to challenge his pain experience knowing that he is safe.

By following a process for getting back to life after back, butt, and sciatica pain- he's able to slowly and methodically retrain his mind to not be afraid and therefore not experience pain while doing activities he loves. The more he does, the better he feels, and the more he proves to his conscious mind he is safe!

Soon enough, the negative feedback flips to positive and he's on his way back to a pain free life.
