How Quick Should You See Pain Relief With Exercise?
Many people suffering with unresolved back, butt and/or sciatica problems often find themselves stuck & confused - they have been trying a specific treatment approach, but aren't sure if it's actually working or bringing lasting relief. I want to BREAK the belief that you just need to keep trying things for "x" amount of time before seeing results. It's outdated + not true and here's why...
Treatment DOESN'T need to take a long time before seeing improvement!
Let's make it even more clear...
If you see/experience NO improvement in the way you move or feel IMMEDIATELY after trying a specific treatment (whether that is someone moving you -physical therapist, chiropractor, massage therapist- or you moving yourself with a stretch or exercise)... then you have ZERO evidence to believe that it will magically help or improve things later.
Continuing to do the same thing over and over expecting a different result is the definition of insanity.
So let's stop the insanity!
Get scientific instead.
Measure the impact - and if it's not helping (or makes you feel worse)... move on! Don't keep doing it and waiting for it to start working later... highly likely that it won't.
I hear this all the time:
"Maybe I haven't given my current treatment enough time to work? They say it could take some time to see results...
I am going to try my massage therapist a bit longer...
I am going to keep doing traction, because they say it takes a while...
I want to give these exercises a few more weeks... maybe I haven't been doing it right? Or doing it consistently enough?
I think I'll just try this local chiropractor out next and see what happens..."
Now, to be clear- I am NOT saying it doesn't take time to test and find what works. But rather, continuing to stick with the same treatment when it has not worked- makes no sense.
So if you've found yourself stuck and maybe even saying some of these things... it's ok. You're not alone. You're normal. But I'd love to see if/how I might be able to help you get past it and finally learn to heal yourself.
