Boiler Broke Down - Fan Fixed for only €2

This is an old Glow Worm Micron 50FF, but the process is the same for many boilers. Indeed many other boilers use the exact same motor as this boiler too, so you might find it to match your own.

I recently had an issue with the boiler intermittently refusing to start up, and when it did run I noticed a slight whirring noise alongside the usual fan sound. I removed the cover and tested the fan for obstructions. I could tell there was too much resistance there so I gave it a squirt of WD40 to the motor shaft and tested again. It fired right up and the motor was now spinning freely.

Of course, this was only a temporary measure for diagnosis so I set about stripping down and rebuilding the motor with a new set of bearings. I used the MTK 626 Z1 bearings at €2.50 for a pair locally.
