Dr. Maika's Parent Message: NEISD budget study sessions begin next week

I know many of you have been monitoring the current Texas Legislative session for updates on the many bills circulating that could impact public education. While we wait to see what decisions are ultimately made in Austin, we’re already looking ahead to our budget for next year.  

On Monday, our Board of Trustees will hold the first of several Budget Study Sessions. I want to encourage you to tune into these discussions as we work together to pass our budget in June. Remember, our board meetings are live-streamed, recorded and archived on the NEISD YouTube channel at the link below (youtube.com/@NEISDtv). 

Stewardship is one of four key priorities connected to the Balanced District Scorecard our Board of Trustees approved in September of last year. Passing our budget is certainly a key aspect of stewardship. Another example is our recent School Finance Community Meeting. This was an opportunity to encourage opportunities for feedback and engagement from you – our stakeholders.

There’s a little over one week left in our traditional school year. Let’s finish strong and continue to report any threatening remarks and social media posts you or your children come across.
