Michelle Obama says Trump is "the wrong president for our country" in DNC speech

Former First Lady of the United States Michelle Obama delivered the keynote speech at the 2020 Democratic Presidential Convention on Monday night.

In perhaps her most pointed criticism of U.S. President Donald Trump to date, Obama called him "the wrong President for our country."

"He has had more than enough time to prove that he can do the job, but he is clearly in over his head. He cannot meet this moment," Obama said. "He simply cannot be who we need him to be for us."

The former First Lady also praised Democratic nominee Joe Biden as someone who "listens" and provided invaluable advice and counsel to her husband, President Barack Obama.

The race for the White House is entering the home stretch, with Republican President Donald Trump and Democratic candidate Joe Biden being formally nominated at their parties' national conventions this month.

The Democratic event, which runs from Aug. 17- 20, was originally scheduled to take place mid-July in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. It has been dramatically scaled back and is expected to be almost entirely virtual due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Biden is expected to accept his party's nomination later this week, while the 2020 U.S. presidential election will take place on Nov. 3.
