Dateline NBC (August 16, 1994) - "The Bad Seed" Eric Smith

Here's a segment from the August 16, 1994 episode of Dateline NBC. It concerns the August 2, 1993 murder of 4-year-old Derrick Robie and the trial of Eric Smith, who was all of 13-years-old when he killed Derrick.
Reporter Deborah Roberts interviews NY State Police Captain Walter DeLapp, Smith family friend Marlene Heskell, Savona, NY resident Becky Feehan and prosecutor John Tunney.
Eric Smith's defense lawyers are also present and they attempt tried to draw a correlation between Eric's crime and the anti-seizure drug Tridione aka Trimethadione, which Eric's mother was prescribed during her pregnancy. There are strong warnings on the label against taking this medication while pregnant.
