Trial Story - Friendly Fire in the Subway (1996)

On August 22, 1994, in NYC's E 53rd Street & Lexington Avenue subway station, off-duty NYCPD officer Peter Del Debbio shot plainclothes NYC Transit cop Desmond Robinson five times, mistaking him for a dangerous gun-toting criminal.
In 1996, Del Debbio was on trial, charged with Felony Assault.
Rikki Klieman guides viewers through the case.
Judge Bernard Fried presides.
Prosecution attorneys include Raymond Castello and Charles Quackenbush.
The defense attorneys are Richard Murray and Marshall Trager.
Testifying are: Det. William Rodriguez, Det. Edward Wallace, witness Sari Linnehan, witness Alice Green, Lt. Donald McCue, Officer Joseph Fitzgerald, Officer David Thompson, Medical Examiner Mark Flomenbaum, former Chief Medical Examiner for NYC Domiinck DiMaio and, finally, both Robinson and Del Debbio.
Seen speaking with reporters are: Michael O'Connor (NYC Transit Police Chief), Officer Ray Garcia, William Bratton (NYC Police Commissioner), Rudy Guiliani (NYC Mayor), Lou Matarazzo (President of the PBA) and Brian O'Dwyer (attorney for Desmond Robinson).
