‘Set them on fire’: Iran fumes as US prepares for a ground invasion

The Pentagon is reportedly preparing for weeks of ground operations in Iran as 3,500 US soldiers and marines arrive in the Middle East.

According to The Washington Post, the operations would be in a limited capacity, potentially including raids on Kharg Island and coastal sites along the Strait of Hormuz.

Iran’s Parliament speaker claims Iranian forces are waiting to set US troops “on fire” if America launches a ground invasion.

“The US President has proven that the only language he understands is a language of force,” Iranian military spokesperson Ebrahim Zolfaghari said.

“In response to Trump’s recent threats of a ground operation or the occupation of any part of Iran’s territory, which is nothing more than a wish, we declare the fighters of Islam have long been awaiting such actions in order to demonstrate that aggression and occupation will yield no result.”
