THIS EPISODE

After an incredible adventure in Sequoia National Park, we headed back out to the coast to start our trek up the 1 to see Big Sur, California. We couldn’t wait to get the first glimpse of the Pacific Ocean and the aqua water of Big Sur did not disappoint!

We learned very quickly that the 1 is quite a bit tighter than the 101 and would advise you to be very careful if you are towing! One other piece of advice, if you are able to, take the 1 driving North to South (the oposite of what we did in this video) as it is easier to pull over at all the amazing pull-offs while towing, and the passenger is able to capture photos or video better. 😉

As per usual, we were hoping to find a first come, first serve site at Plaskett Creek Campground on the coast. This is how we travel. We like to keep it flexible in case we decide to stay in a place a bit longer or move on after just a night. We were disappointed to pull up and see a “Campground Full” sign but were REALLY glad we still stopped to check!

Don’t let the fog or “less than perfect” weather ruin your time in a location. Even though we were skunked on our sunset that night on the beach, we still had an amazing time listening to the waves crash onto the rocks!

One of our favorite parts of finding a campground in a location like this is that it is the perfect spot to drop the camper and explore up and down the coast from the campground to get into the spots that you may not have been able to with the RV attached. Our foggy day of exploring turned out even better than we expected!
