Bats, An Ally Worth Protecting | Field Notes | Parks Canada
Grab your flashlight and join Parks Canada scientists across Quebec as they work together to better understand and protect bats.
Bats are actually very important to our ecosystems! They are a natural pest control. Bats help reduce the need for pesticides that lead to environmental pollution.
Sadly, in Canada, bats are under threat from habitat loss and white-nose syndrome, a fungal disease that is decimating hibernating bats across North America. That’s why Parks Canada is collaborating with private landowners, academia and bat conservation groups to monitor and survey bats and ensure safe habitat for bats across the country.
