Helping Turtle Hatchlings in Thousand Islands National Park
All turtles in Ontario are species at risk. At Thousand Islands National Park, Parks Canada and community partners are working to protect at-risk turtles.
Over the past 2 years, Thousands Islands National Park’s resource conservation staff have collected and incubated turtle eggs from nests at high risk. More than 250 turtle eggs have successfully hatched, and Parks Canada staff have released all those hatchlings into park wetlands.
